1882 Summer Uniform Egyptians Painted!

Well, they took me longer than any other unit to paint: white is my least favourite colour! I ended up changing my usual technique of washing with black, since this really ruins the nice white colour. Instead, after basecoating with white, I washed with a thinned out linen (or buff) colour paint. I'm quite happy with the final results.
These figures are 88-203, described in the original line as Sudanese Infantry, blue jersey. However, after a bit of reseach, I decided that these figures were the closest to the 1882 uniforms of the Egyptians who fought against the British at Tel-El-Kebir. At a later date I would like to paint another unit of this model, completely in blue, as these would accurately represent the Egyptian winter uniform of this period.

Next, I shall be painting a unit of early (1882) Sudanese, in the white summer uniform, using figure 88-207 Gordon's Sudanese. Hopefully I have this white-painting business cracked.

Pathan, Boer, or Briton?

The Indlondlo Zulu (right), sculpted by Tom Meier, is the first new figure to be added to the classic Ral Partha colonial line in over 20 years. This was made possible by those of you who purchased subscriptions - well done! Now, Stellar Systems and Great Endeavours looks forward to the release of a second new figure, which we hope will be available before the end of the year!

But which figure is it to be? Currently in the lead is the Crouching Pathan (26%), although the British Infantryman Reloading (20%), and the Crouching Boer (24%) are close on the Pathan's heels in the running! You can help decide which figure is the next to be sculpted by taking out a subscription today!

Don't forget that the percentages for each planned new figure do not need to reach 100% before that figure goes into production. Once we decide we have enough subscriptions in a line, it will be sculpted by Tom. At that point, subscriptions for the line will close, so make sure you don't miss out on this great opportunity to get packs of these new figures for half price!
